Recent Archaeological Find!

Some rare ancient Greek coins and a stone carving were found recently which challenges some of our previously held beliefs about this time period.

We contacted the world renowned anthropologist Dr. Grantopolis for his comments on the find.

"Wow, this is a remarkable find. This coin is from about 200 B.C. and we had no idea that the Greeks had what appears to be eyeglasses during this period. This is an image of one of the Greek Mythology gods which we only have sketchy information on.

"The Greek name for the coin above is a "bit" and, while it is hard to fathom a price for this today, apparently it required two of them to buy a coffee in those ancient times. (Yes, they had coffee back then too.)

"Legend describes this god as being outcast and, similar to Madusa is given a beard of snakes (as you can see from the stone engraving below"). He was banished and made to live in exile in the land of Geeks (Greeks without the "r") with other Uniks (a "gnome-like" being with pony-tails, sandals and writing tools attached to their shirts) and do contract work for mere bits.

"As a final punishment, he was to toil, cleaning a pool for a house of maidens. Ironically, he would wait for what would seem an eternity to reach a free bath (and was required to do so without complaint to the maidens).

Cool. Is the bas relief a standard effect on your graphics package? Well done!

I'm sure Grant is thankful you didn't go for the full Greek effect and turn him into a nudey statue.

I'd considered it, a statue pouring water into the pool (or bath) for his maidens.. I couldn't bring myself to do it though..

As for the graphics, I'm using gimp and it was a bit more involved than a simple bumpmap (although one was used).

Very cool, and the facts were well presented. I'm just glad I don't have a plastic pocket protector.
