I hesitated in sending a link to this as Christy's friends obviously already have a syrup boiler and, of course I didn't really want to send a link to the "Make" magazine. If Christy gets hold of this magazine she will probably have even less time available for more important things (like baking for example).

I haven't seen any gilding machine articles in here yet. Maybe you could Make one and write an article about it. Become rich'famous etc. Great magazine BTW, I have a subscription.. (Can't find it on the shelves anywhere in Canada, eh?)
