My Secret Life

In my mind, I'm an adventurist. I know I look like an everyday, garden variety commuter, but I aspire to a grand adventure one day, preferably before body parts start wearing out and/ or I lose my nerve. I subscribe to The Adenturist newsletter. So, dear friends, if you wonder what it is I'm thinking about during those moments on the train when I'm silent and gazing off into the distant horizon (yeah, yeah... as if), it's this stuff:

Dear Adventurists,

A brief but very exciting update for you: a brand new edition of the Rickshaw Run has been added to the gaggle of adventures at Adventurists Towers.AND, all sorts of adventure is being had on the current Rickshaw Run right now which you can follow online with the teams' text message updates from the road, displayed for your pleasure on the trendy looking new website: www.rickshawrun.com – Track the Teams

The Rickshaw Run Spring Edition 2009

11th – 26th April
Starting: Shillong, far Eastern India
Finishing: The other side of India, up some really big hills

Sign up starts tomorrow – Tuesday 10th June at 15:00
Starting in the far east in Shillong with the finish line way up in the North West of India, the route options are awesome – Bangladesh, Nepal, great big mountains, steamy plains, jungles, elephants, tigers….

Why does the world need more Rickshaw Run adventure on three wheels? When the mighty Rickshaw Run started at the end of 2006 the clipboard appreciation society were outraged and blew many, many whistles of sensibleness. ‘Take a tin can across impossible terrain’ they said, ‘with no itinerary, no back up or vehicle that was remotely suitable’ they said.

Adventurists far and wide dodged the flying spittle of angry shouty people who iron their pants and headed off to thunder across the subcontinent in search of adventure. So many signed up in fact that two Rickshaw Runs a year just didn’t seem to quench your thirst for two weeks of glorious mayhem.

From 2009 there will be the Winter Edition as usual starting with a New Year’s Eve party, and then the brand spanking new Easter Edition will be served in April. Then in September the third and possibly wettest instalment will set forth. Three wheels, three runs... marvellous.

If you fancy bagging yourself a spot on the Spring Edition Run for next April, head to the website tomorrow at 15:00 UK time:www.rickshawrun.com You just have to log in and hit ‘Sign me Up’. From there on it’s step by step. If you have any questions drop us an email from the Contact Page on the website.

The new website is the very early sprouts of an online extravaganza that will soon spread across all the websites, and create some new ones, to provide a suitable home for all the adventures and related adventuring gubbins we have planned.

Hope everyone is well and the part of the world you’re in is treating you well. We’ll be back in touch soon with more news about the summer and more details for adventures in 2009.

Cheers, Dan The Adventurists
